Some fruitless varieties are grown for the flowers alone. When the seedling tree 1st fruited in 1929, one branch produced red fruits instead of pink. It was originally a seedling of Pink Marsh, planted in 1926 by A. Ruby Red was first introduced in commercially in 1934 as a true Red, seedless fruit from McAllen Texas. Ruby Red is excellent for container growing.
